USDA-approved Fetal Bovine Serum (FBS) is sourced from countries authorized by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) for the export of bovine products to the United States. Collected from regions with stringent veterinary oversight, once processed the serum undergoes rigorous safety testing by the USDA to ensure absence of viruses or contaminants before release. The heat inactivation process further enhances its suitability for immunological and cell culture applications by deactivating complement proteins and other factors that could interfere with sensitive experiments. Ideal for labs seeking high-quality, virus-tested serum, this FBS supports a variety of research fields, including immunology, cell biology, and vaccine production, offering a safe and reliable solution for demanding projects. Our serum is maintained at or below 40°F from collection through sterile bottling to ensure superior performance. Processed serum is thawed and then heated in a water bath at 56°C for 30 minutes. The serum is swirled every 10 minutes to ensure proper integration of concentrated protein. The “heat” inactivates the “complement” in the serum. Complement is defined as a series of 20 proteins produced by the liver which amplify the action of antibodies.
